From Texas to Lake Como….eloping to Italy!
On a stunning October day, Kathy and Mark celebrated their wedding in Lake Como; in the charming town of Cernobbio. This was a last minute request…we were contacted on August 31st with a requested wedding date of October 7th. After considering the various Lake Como towns and the tight time line, Kathy and Mark decided on Cernobbio.
They chose to stay at the magnificent Villa D’Este, one of Italy’s most legendary and luxurious hotels, with amazing park and gardens. A more stunning background for a Lake Como wedding photo shoot could not be imagined!
The designs of Villa D’este’s gardens dates back to the Renaissance. The highlight is the spectacular 16th century Mosaic and Nympheum. There is a 500 year old plane tree..and an outstanding variety of azaleas, camellias, oleanders, wisteria, palm and cypress trees.
This former 16th century princely residence has maintained intact the luxury and magnificence of a bygone era. Villa D’Este’s interiors are like no other…with a grand staircase, gilding and beautiful halls to linger in. Perfect for brides wishing to be a Princess on their special day. The villa’s opulent rooms are the ideal setting for an unforgettable Lake Como wedding reception and honeymoon stay.
Kathy and Mark’s civil ceremony took place in the charming wedding room of the Cernobbio town hall; a Liberty style villa surrounded by a lovely park. The glass enclosed wedding room allows for an abundance of light and excellent views.
After the ceremony photos were taken around the historic heart of the lakeside town of Cernobbio and back at Villa D’Este. The weather could not have been more perfect which for October was an extra blessing considering how the morning had begun with a thunderstorm! “We actually woke up at 5AM to a fantastic thunderstorm that cleared all the fog off the lake & made everything clean. It ended up being the most amazingly clear day on Lake Como for the wedding with the perfect temperature.”
