Outdoor Civil Wedding Locations

Traditionally, an civil weddings in Italy had to be performed inside a town hall. While this is still true in many locations, much has changed in recent years. A large number of outdoor civil wedding locations in Italy have now been made available; something we are quite excited about! There is something particularly beautiful about marrying outside surrounded by Italy’s glorious countryside, romantic lakes and ocean vistas.

Local authorities now allow civil weddings in many private castles and villas including their gardens and parks. In some cases the city and towns have purchased unique properties for outside ceremonies. Many of these locations are simply extraordinary.

The Amalfi Coast has a fine selection of outdoor civil venues such as the romantic Cloister of Sorrento, the amazing Positano terrace overlooking the entire bay, and the charming garden terrace of Ravello. In the Lake District, some of the most exclusive villas and palaces with incredible gardens now allow for civil weddings overlooking the blue waters of Lake Como, Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. Tuscany and the Italian Riviera have a long list of outdoor options, from cloisters to ancient castle courtyards with sea views.

Your Italy civil ceremony can be further embellished with flower decorations, elegant seating and a special runner for the bride’s wedding march. Many of the gardens are available for outdoor receptions.
