La Badia Wedding in Umbria
Located between the crossroads of Florence and Rome, sits the hilltop town of Orvieto in Italy’s Umbria region, and possibly one of the most Instagram worthy wedding locations.
La Badia di Orvieto is a famous venue for boasting an ancient roofless hall, ideal for romantic receptions and late night stargazing.
Dating back to the 6th century, the Badia has now been transformed into a luxury hotel and event venue, and was the perfect place for Juliana and Brian’s dream destination wedding in Umbria.
With a fun and whimsical color scheme in mind, and a list of lavish flowers, outfitting the Badia to come alive for an awe-inspiring wedding in Umbria was a breeze.
The couple opted for an outdoor ceremony nestled in the Badia’s courtyard. Dark wood chairs and a colorful floral alter gave the historic location a whimsical feel.
Juliana walked down the aisle to a live swing band wearing a chic white gown, adorned with a sleek gold belt and flowing silk cape. Her freshly-picked bouquet was made up of branches of green jasmine, green leaf pithosfora, spontaneous maple leaves, English roses, hints of blue delfinium, fuchsia hydrangea, orange dahlias, and pink king protea.
Brain looked dashing in a taupe tux with a royal blue tie. Together the couple was the perfect mix of high fashion and timeless beauty.
After the ceremony, guests moved to the cocktail hour in the abbey’s olive garden, while a live swing band played some of the couple’s favorite songs. Juliana and Brian made sure to have signature cocktails for guests to try, including; Spritz, Paper Plane, Negroni and Negroni Sbagliato.
Everyone found their dinner seats on a restored wood table with individual place cards lit up by towering ivory candles.
As the band continued to play, guests were seating in the stunning outdoor hall of the Badia. Surrounded by ancient stonewalls, with a breathtaking view of the evening sky, the décor and color palette of the wedding dressed the venue seamlessly.
With two long wooden tables, following the shape of the Badia’s famous arch, sage green napkins, country chic chairs and a cascading eucalyptus garland speckled with pops of bright flowers, everyone was in awe of atmospheric beauty.
After enjoying an authentic Umbrian wedding menu, guests wondered into the various indoor rooms of the Badia, which were filled with dessert tables, including a traditional Italian confetti bar.
The party continued outside with a DJ getting everyone onto the dance floor for a night of celebration under the Umbrian night sky.
Needless to say that Juliana and Brian’s dream wedding in Umbria became a reality, where they were able to fuse their unique personal styles into of the region’s most beautiful wedding locations.
