Il Borro Indian Wedding in Tuscany
Harrison proposed to Freena in Tuscany and since then their intention was to come back to celebrate their love in this magical region full of vineyards and olive groves.
Once DIW suggested Il Borro as the wedding venue, they immediately knew it was THE venue for their Tuscany wedding!
Il Borro is simply one of the most unique Italy wedding venues only 1 hour from Florence offering a superb 700-hectare Tuscan estate enclosing many unique features including: a luxury renaissance villa, a perfectly restored medieval village, elegant rooms, guest villas and farmhouses, a spa, restaurants and an impressive amphitheater. Simply a fairy tale place for a wedding!
Freena and Harrison wanted a blend of both cultures: Indian and English. This multicultural wedding was undoubtedly an event of the year over 3 days – each day unique with different décor and catering.
The celebrations kicked off with an informal, traditional rustic Tuscan dinner while guests were serenaded by a traditional Italian folk group. It was the perfect introduction to this Tuscany wedding event allowing everyone to get acquainted and create a very relaxed atmosphere before the following 2-day extravaganza.
The official celebrations commenced on Sunday, August 25th with a traditional Hindu wedding.
The day started with a relaxed Indian style pool Mehndi party in late morning. Guests savored traditional Indian dish from pani poori station, pau bhaji and vada pac stations, accompanied by delicious lassi drinks. For all the ladies there was a mehndi station to decorate their hands and feet for the afternoon ceremony.
The Indian pre ceremony traditions started with the Baharat for the groom. Harrison was dressed in the traditional Indian royal blue kurta and turban and made his way riding on a beautiful white horse accompanied by Indian dancers and closest family dancing to the tunes of dhol drummers. Freena was a stunning bride dressed in a pink, intricately embroidered lehenga.
The ceremony was held under a majestic mandap with the roof completely covered with white cascading wisteria and frontally decorated with white and pink hydrangeas, peach and ivory roses with mixed greens.
This magical day was topped by a traditional Indian dinner in the amphitheater followed by a after party with a Bollywood show that lasted until the morning hours.
The following day a traditional, white wedding took place in formal European style.
The symbolic ceremony was held in Il Borro’s Italian gardens where the couple exchanged their vows.
The evening continued with a traditional glamorous Tuscan wedding reception on the main square of the Borro Relais. Two grand imperial tables were decorated by a festoon of mixed greeneries with pastel blooms of blue and pink. The hanging greeneries and candles created a perfect atmosphere of a romantic Tuscan summer night.
After the dinner, all the guests danced the night away accompanied to the tunes of the 12 piece Great Gatsby band.
