Best time of year for a Cividale Wedding: April through October.
Celebrate your Italy wedding in Cividale! Founded by Julius Caesar in 53 AD who commanded the Roman legions posted in the area, Cividale is a gem of medieval architecture and one of our favorite Northern Italian towns. Surrounded by the famous Colli Orientali del Friuli vineyards, the setting could not be more striking. Strolling through the narrow cobbled streets is an absolute pleasure as you explore the piazzas and frescoed buildings of the town. The views from the Ponte del Diavolo (Devil’s Bridge) of the Natisone River with its crystal clear turquoise waters are breathtaking and a sight not to be missed.
Visit the Renaissance Duomo, which was built by Pietro Lombardo who is famous for having designed Venice’s Santa Maria dei Miracoli church. The Duomo’s 12th century altarpiece in gilt silver is one of the church’s highlights.
The medieval palace where civil ceremonies are performed is in the very center of historical Cividale, in the official town hall, just steps from all of the main attractions. The authorities will officiate your Cividale wedding ceremony in the Council Hall - “Sala del Consiglio” an elegant room which is decorated with antique paintings and furnishings. It holds a maximum of 80 people. You are free to add music, personal vows and readings to your civil ceremony which will be officiated by the Mayor of Cividale. Finally, there is a second civil wedding location which is available: a very special historical palace with cloister and gardens. The ceremony can be performed either outside or inside the palace in a great hall. Maximum number of guests is 100. This last location is available from April 1st through September 30th only.
